Heres a story that I've been inspired to write. (part1)
There was this guy by the name of Gary who lived with his father in a 4-room hdb flat after his mother had left the both of them and returned to Malaysia. Since young, Gary have had to suffer his father's harsh beatings whenever he got out of hand as his father did not know the proper way to teach his child and the only way that the father knew how to discipline Gary was to give him the beating of his life, in the hope of Gary becoming more sensible. His father was also a hardcore gambler and would almost gamble in anything from horse races, soccer bets, casinos, to stocks. So in short Gary never really had a happy childhood when he was young.
Over the years, Gary did become more sensible and he got to meet a guy called Melvin. They both met when Gary went to Secondary 1. The funny thing about Gary and Melvin was that they clicked right away when they had barely known each other for 24hrs as though they were long lost brothers. Throughout the year when they were in Secondary 1, they had fun times together and of course, not forgetting the times when they were both down and out. A few hilarious moments (memories) were created in both of their lives too as they often got caned and scolded together in their secondary school. When the exams came, Gary and Melvin didn't care less and continued to play as though nothing had happened and there weren't any exams to bother with.
Finally, after 10 over days, both Gary and Melvin finished their last subject paper and threw their hands up excitedly in the air as the exams were finally over. Both of them waited for a couple of weeks and they finally got their results back with their marks. Then came the harsh reality that struck them. Gary managed to scrape pass and got onto Secondary 2 express stream while Melvin was not so fortunate. Melvin had to be demoted to Secondary 2 normal academic and he was completely shocked out of his skin.
